Objectives

The Postgraduate Program in Language Studies at UFG (PPGEL) has taken steps towards its consolidation.  Below are the following objectives:

Main objective:

To train Master´s and Doctorate students to work with the written word as researchers and teachers, both in higher education and basic education.

Specific objectives:

1.  To equip professionals to lecture and carry out research on Language courses, to teach classes and develop scientific research and extension activities, broadening their theoretical and methodological knowledge in the field of Language Studies.
2. To foster the convergence of scientific research through interdisciplinary articulation in the current literature within the lines of research and the area of concentration.
3. To encourage faculty members and students to participate in gaining and refreshing knowledge in Language studies through academic and scientific events in other programs in the field
4. To facilitate integration between undergraduate and postgraduate studies through faculty member and student participation in research, events, bibliographical productions, study group meetings and teaching internsh
5. To contribute to training human resources, especially teaching basic education, offering solid training in all PPGEL activities enabling postgraduates to enter the education/training job market regarding Portuguese and foreign language teaching and literature.
6. To contribute to broadening human resources skills that postgraduates in Language studies need and who would like to consolidate their professional practices at PPGEL, whether in the public service or not (federal technical servants, secretaries, educational tutors).
